Passionate fightback

Andrea Petkovic has advanced to the third round at the Australian Open. The 23-year-old German defeated Anne Keothavong (GBR | WTA 118) 2:6; 7:5; 6:0 in a hard-fought over three-setter. Andrea started off being nervous and Keothavong could control the match with her powerful forehand. And things got worse. When Andrea had to take a medical break in the beginning of the second set because of her ankle wound, it seemed to become a day that couldn't get any less promising for Petkorazzi.

However, the medical treatment took immediate effects on the game. Andrea managed to turn the match around and won the second set. Finding her stride Andrea left Keothavong with no chances to even win a single game in the third set. In the end she showed the same exceptional tennis that got her into the final round of Brisbane. "I am happy, it's about winning. I know that it has not been my best performance", said Andrea.

In the third round Andrea will now face Venus Williams (USA | WTA 5). "I have to improve against Venus", said Andrea. "It will definitely be a new experience." It will be the first encounter between the two players. Information on Andrea’s matches and tournaments can be found in the matchcenter.
