In a very closely contested match, Andrea Petkovic missed to advance to the third round of the French Open by a heartbeat. The 22 year old German lost 6:4, 5:7, 4:6 to defending French Open champion Svetlana Kutznetsova despite having four match points in the second set.
"I just tried too hart, when I had the opportunity to finish the game", Petkovic said after the match. "Until then I had played with the discipline, you need when you go head to head with one of the top players in the world."
Even though Petkovic was a little bit disappointed after her withdrawal, she sounded confident about her future: "My time will come. I know I will continue climbing up the rankings."
