Nadia Petrova is Andrea Petkovic’s first opponent at the US Open. The 28-year-old Russian is seeded No. 17 in New York. Currently she is No. 19 in the WTA ranking. It is Andrea’s first match against Petrova, who advanced to the last sixteen at Flushin Meadows last year.

Andrea Petkovic's last tournament before the US Open ends with a disappointment. The 22-year-old lost 2:6; 2:6 in straight sets against Olga Gorvotsova of Belarus. Andrea Petkovic has lost in straigh sets (3:6; 3:6) to Dinara Safina in the first round of The Rogers Cup in Montreal. Against the former number one of the world, Andrea made too many unforced errors, resulting in the Russian taking the win without too much of a struggle.
Next stop ist the tournament in New Haven, before Andrea plays the US Open in New York.
